Success on this caribou hunt in Newfoundland, Canada, typically runs 100%. Guides use ATVs, boats and hiking. Your hunt will be guided with one hunter per guide, and you'll stay in a nice cabin or lodge with electricity, showers and wood heat. The outfitter has eight lodges scattered over the western and southern areas of the island, and most require a helicopter flight to access them. All flights from Deer Lake and licenses are included in the price of the hunt. One group we sent saw about 500 caribou. They rated the food, accommodations and the personality and skill of the guides as excellent. The outfitter uses four-wheel ATVs and boats during the day. You also can hunt ptarmigan.
The outfitter offers archery hunts in late August and early September out of his new Flathills Camp.
You can take a black bear for an additional trophy fee. You also can add moose.

| The guides cape and salt your trophies and deliver your game to a butcher, who charges 50 cents a pound for meat cutting. He ships the vacuum-packed meat, cape and antlers as cargo, usually a week after your departure. You can pick up your boxes at your local airport. Crating and shipping charges are extra. |
