This hunt offers a chance to hunt big mule deer on 5,000 acres of private ranchland for as little as $2,250. the landowner and his sons conduct the hunt on their own property. He usually takes two or three hunters per season. Each hunter has his own personal guide, either the rancher himself or one of his sons. His property borders the Deseret Land & Livestock ranch, which is managed for trophy hunting, and so he has very good quality for his acreage. Tags have been available every year after the state permit drawing. You can choose among a rifle season in late October (full this year), a blackpowder hunter in late September and early October, or a bow hunt in late August and early September. Hunters usually see bucks in the 24 to 28-inch range and sometimes larger animals. The rancher took only one deer hunter last year, and he got a buck that scored in the 170s. A bordering section of state ground was sold to an outsider a couple of years ago, and the rancher sold him an easement with the stipulation that he could hunt that property last year and this. "I would like to get some hunters in there early," he said, "and so I'm setting a good price in order to attract some guys. I think they'll have an excellent chance of getting a nice buck. I would like to take two muzzleloader hunters and one or two bowhunters this year. " The hunt includes five days of hunting along with lodging in a bunkhouse. Food is not provided, but you can contract with the rancher to provide meals. "I would say that they could expect to see 24 to 28 inch bucks," he said. "We'll arrange for meat processing and caping, but the taxidermist and butcher fees are not included in the price of the hunt. I would prefer two friends to come together. They'll be the only two hunters on the property." A bowhunter might get lucky and have a chance at a big bull elk. If you want to buy a tag, you can buy one for |
