Two deer spots open Sept. 1-5. Four elk/deer combos available Sept. 25-29, 2009
One of the finest combination hunts for elk and mule deer in the entire West takes place on a private ranch in southern Utah. Hunters on this trip typically takes bulls scoring 300 to 350 Boone and Crockett points and deer in the 170 to 200 class. The ranch is situated about three hours south of Salt Lake City. You'll hunt wild elk and deer that are not constrained by game-proof fences. But due to low hunting pressure, the elk and deer have a chance to grow old enough to reach trophy size.
You'll stay in an outfitter tent and will reach the hunting areas by ATV. Hunting is by spotting and stalking. Most hunters enjoy a lot of bugling action. The scenery is spectacular, and the leaves start to change colors during the September season, making this a wonderful time to be afield. If you want to hunt deer alone, the best time is probably the first part of the season, Sept. 1-5. In the past two seasons (2007 and 2008) the outfitter accommodated six deer hunters, and they got two bucks that scored in the 180s, a 192, a 202 typicl and a big three-pointer that scored in the 170s. |
