This area is known for having a good population of elk, including many 5x5 and 6x6 bulls that typically score 240-300 points, occasionally bigger but hardly ever exceeding 340. Only muzzleloader and archery hunting is allowed. We guided two bowhunters in this area in 2013 and three muzzleloader hunters in 2014, and all five hunters took bulls. PRICES: Landowner vouchers are not as expensive here, and this is reflected in these prices: Archery or muzzleloader, meals and lodging not included, $4,450 with three hunters per guide, $4,950 with two hunters per guide. Extra $500 if meals and lodging are included. Archery is in September, muzzleloader seasons are in mid- to late October and early November.

One of the bulls from Desert Mesa. The outfitter had two archers and both killed elk like this. Three muzzleloader hunters killed bulls the next year.
