How Hunts.Net can help you

Join Hunts.Net free of charge

If you're looking for free, detailed information about big game hunting opportunities, you've come to the right place. Our goal is to be the central clearinghouse for hunters everywhere.

You'll see many changes here at Hunts.Net over the next few months as we expand membership privileges. Examples:

  • A periodic newsletter
  • Optional email notification of reduced-price or cancellation hunts
  • Discounts on some hunts
  • Free access to information for which other companies charge yearly fees
  • Free chances to draw hunt and equipment giveaways
  • Access to outfitter ratings by our members
  • Free classified advertising of outdoor equipment and some services

Visit us first anytime you're planning your next hunting trip. If you want to talk with any of the many outfitters, ranchers, bush pilots and other hunt providers who cooperate with us, join Hunts.Net. We can then put you directly in touch with the hunt providers who offer hunts you might wish to consider as you strive to achieve your hunting goals.

Your Hunts.Net membership is free. All we require is that you send your deposit through us if you book a hunt with a hunt provider with whom we have put you in touch. Hunt providers have agreed to pay us a booking fee, and that will be deducted from your deposit before we forward the balance to the provider. Hunters who bypass us run the risk of losing their membership and are liable for booking fees that are not paid by the provider.

We have expanded our knowledge, experience and research every year, so be sure to call before you book your next hunt. Hunts.Net President Rich LaRocco has providing information to hunters since 1979 and has worked as a hunting broker since 1986.

Hunts.Net is not an agent of the hunt provider or the hunter. We are facilitators who work hard to provide to members information on hunts that promise to be good bets to help them achieve their hunting goals.

Our objective is to provide you with as much information as you need to select a hunt that meets your criteria. We get this information from a variety of sources, including other customers, hunt providers, ranchers, biologists, and our own experience.

Usually we can provide you with enough information that you can select a hunting trip that will meet your expectations, especially if you're concerned more about quality than price.

Some of the best outfitters do little or no self-promotion. Instead they rely on their reputations and word-of-mouth advertising and on Hunts.Net to fill a few openings a year. Some hunt providers find that they can keep their hunt prices down by working with us to promote their hunts rather than pay for advertising, print expensive brochures, attend sport shows or entertain an endless string of outdoor writers and hunting video producers.

Feel free to call us anytime. We can keep you informed about changes that impact particular hunting trips, such as severe game-killing weather, lease changes, season date changes and increased hunting pressure.

Thank you for letting us serve you. We understand how much you look forward to that special trip you've been planning. We sincerely want you to bring home wonderful memories. We appreciate the many photographs and stories we receive from your adventures and look forward to many more in the future. We look forward to working with you on many future hunting trips. -- Rich LaRocco, President, Hunts.Net

Terms and conditions

Information is provided on the specific condition that Hunts.Net and its subsidiaries, affiliated or associated companies, agents and sub-agents act only as conduits of information. We do not recommend outfitters or other hunt providers such as ranchers or bush pilots but pass along to our customers information we have received about the hunting opportunities they offer. Outfitters, bush pilots, professional hunters and ranchers and other hunt providers are independent owners or contractors and are not employees of Hunts.Net. We are not responsible for their actions and have no control over the actual hunt, safari, fishing trip, travel or accommodations. We do not research each hunt providers' license status or safety records. All prices and availability are subject to change without notice. We strive to pass along accurate information but cannot verify the accuracy of this information. We prefer customers to book hunting trips that have had long records of high success or trips that one or more of our consultants has enjoyed or trips that our customers have booked and have enjoyed. We realize that sometimes the best hunts for the money are new hunts, but you should consider any unproven hunt risky. Often an outfitter we have come to trust over several years will acquire a new lease or begin hunting an area new to him, such as an area where he has bought out a concession or a hunting unit where the state has opened a new hunting season, and in those cases we usually have more confidence in a new hunt. We are always looking for promising hunting trips; hence, we often pass along to our customers information we have acquired about hunt providers or ostensible hunt providers who are new to us. You, the customer, must make your own decision about the accuracy of this information, much of which is provided by hunt providers or references they have offered, in determining for yourself which hunt provider to use. Our use of the terms outfitter, professional guide, guide, air taxi service, bush pilot or hunt provider should not be construed to mean that we have verified that the person or entity in question has acquired or has renewed or will renew or keep current all necessary permits and licenses to offer legally the hunting trips being offered. We earn a commission on all hunts booked through us. When we put you in touch with a hunt provider after providing you with information about his offerings, you agree to send your reservation deposit through Hunts.Net unless we direct you in writing to do otherwise. This applies to all future bookings with the hunt provider. We deduct our commission from the deposit and send the balance to the hunt provider. Except in unusual circumstances, you pay no more for a hunt booked through us than if you had booked directly with the hunt provider. Do not book a trip with any hunt provider whose services are described on our web site, hunts.net, in our literature or by one of our consultants unless you agree to the condition that Hunts.Net will not be liable for any damages beyond the amount of the commission that Hunts.Net earns. Ask about incentives to customers who send deposits through Hunts.Net.

Our commission is included in the price of the hunt except in special and rare cases. All prices are in U.S. dollars unless otherwise noted. Most hunt prices do not include license, tags, butcher and taxidermy fees, sales taxes or transportation between the hunter's home and the site where you'll meet the outfitter. Some hunts include shuttle service from the nearest airport. Prices and availability are subject to change. Statistics are typically supplied by hunt providers. All information should be verified by the customer.

How to book a hunt

Getting consistently "lucky"

Hunt Reports Welcome
If you had a good or bad trip with an outfitter or rancher in the past few years, please email us or send us the details.

 Send deposits through Hunts.Net

When you send your deposit through Hunts.Net, we deduct the commission the hunt provider has agreed to pay us and forward the rest to him. This ensures that we get remunerated and can, therefore, continue to help you with free information and services. Also, it protects you. We'll send you a contract outlining our role and responsibilities.

All our hunts are for free-roaming animals that are NOT restricted by game-proof fences unless we clearly state otherwise. Be careful when using booking agents or outfitters who tend to hide the fact that some "hunts" are behind high fences.

We appreciate your passing along our name, web site (www.hunts.net) and brochure to your friends. Have them call us with their specific needs.

Book now for future years. Though we often have openings and cancellations on excellent hunts, some of the better hunts traditionally fill up well in advance.

We would rather see you save up for a proven quality hunt than go on an average or unproven hunt every year because we know your chances of being satisfied are higher. We depend on word of mouth and return clientele.

In the Lower 48 we prefer private-land hunts and limited-entry hunts because they typically offer higher hunter success and trophy size and are less affected by unfavorable weather.

Sometimes budget hunts have less consistent or unproven records of hunter success and trophy size. Sometimes these hunts fail to meet expectations, especially with outfitters or ranchers who are new to us. Yet often these trips are the best bargains. Read "Booking a Bargain Hunt."

We welcome muzzleloader and bowhunters. We also welcome skilled do-it-yourself hunters who are properly prepared and equipped. Before considering an unguided hunt, read "What you should know about unguided hunts" and "Who should take self-guided hunts?"
