One of our long-time outfitters in Alberta just picked up an allocation of seven whitetail permits from a retiring outfitter.

"I've been keeping my eye on these permits," our outfitter said, "because they're in a prime area, and I've noticed that the outfitter was getting older and probably ready to retire. So when I had a opportunity to offer my customers a hunt in this area, I jumped at the chance. It's a really good Wildlife Management Area, 347, which is west of Whitecourt and south of Fox Creek. There are good chances for bucks in the 160s and even bigger. I myself would not shoot any buck that didn't score at least 145 Boone and Crockett points. The price is $4,000, but that does not include lodging or meals. You can stay in a motel in a nearby town, and we'll pick you up in the mornings. We'll be using heated ground blinds and some tree stands. There is lots of oil exploration and extraction activity in this area as well as some logging, and that has opened things up for the deer. A lot of it has been reseeded with clover,. We'll mostly be hunting cut blocks , pipelines and other areas that have been opened up by loggers. Hunts are in November during the rut." |

These pictures were supplied by the previous outfitter. We've been booking with this outfitte for more than 20 years. He was able to get a deer tag for two of our moose hunters one year, and one of those customers got a 165 whitetail while moose hunting.
The outfitter used to be a biologist working in the area. He spends most of his time guiding fishermen now, but when fall comes he starts guiding for moose and whitetails, then he guides bison hunters in the fall and black bear hunters in the spring.
